January 26,  2015

burger king! CROWNS! Celestial Glory.
Such a busy week. Running around, talking to so many people, meeting
so many people in cafes. Ah. sick of hot chocolate. 3times a day...not
tasty. Great blessings.

We had a zone fast this week. Such a powerful experience, all
together, fasting in unity for investigators to be baptized/us to find
those who would. Miracles have flowed forth. New investigators
dropping out of the rafters, people just showing up at church, more
baptismal dates. Up to 16, compared to 1, two weeks ago. YES. The work
rolls on.

Met a sweeet guy named John. Korean but lived in New Zealand forever.
Super cool, just walked into a fast food place together and taught a
lesson. NICE.

Met an Iranian christian today. Two of his sisters were killed because
they were christian. Super strong faith.

Daniel. Came to church again. Plans to just keep coming. It'll take a
little while for him to get baptized though. He's got lots of
questions, and doubts, but wants to come to church because he knows it
will make him a better person. The example his mormon roommate had on
him was THAT powerful. Doesn't believe God really exists yet, but

Please never underestimate the power of your examples. People notice.
They remember. And they want to be like you, have the happiness/peace
you have.

He brought up some good questions. "What does it mean, 'The Book of
Mormon is TRUE' ?" Good question. I've been thinking about it. "TRUE."
I'd answer with a scripture....
 D&C 18:34-36

34These words are not of men nor of man, but of me; wherefore, you
shall testify they are of me and not of man;
35 For it is my voice which speaketh them unto you; for they are given
by my Spirit unto you, and by my power you can read them one to
another; and save it were by my power you could not have them;
36 Wherefore, you can testify that you have heard my voice, and know my words.

It means that the words are of God. It is His voice speaking to US in
these latter days. It means that we can find answers there, we can
find peace and joy as we apply it's teachings. It means this is God's
only restored church. And if we read with the spirit, we can say that
"I have heard His voice, I know His words." The Book IS true. I
testify with my own witness and invite the world to learn the same.

love you all!

Happiness must be earned, but it's worth it! -Pres Benson

January 19,  2015

Life is good in Ilsan!!! Wooohoo!

At the bathhouse last pday, I was just relaxing in the mint tea pool
when I hear a cry "Ros.....Rosenberg!?!?" Yup. It's wilson, a 60yr old
member of our english class. So of course I jump out of the pool, run
up and shake the incredulously proffered hand. " public
bathhouse!? You look like native korean!" We'll leave the story at
that. But in korean culture, our relationship just improved a ton.

Zone Training Meeting was super good this week. It's fun to see how
much better we get at training as time goes by. I'm sure  my first
district meetings must have been SO boring. But this one was GREAT.
Elder South is so good. President had us focusing on baptismal
invitations this month, and we felt that our zone needed that baddd.
So we trained a bunch on inviting people to be baptized on the street.
Super fun.

The result? Our zone invited about 100 people to be baptized this
week, most on the street. And in 4 days, we went from 1 to 9 baptismal
dates. WHOOO!

President is truly inspired, and if we follow our leaders we will be
blessed. It's a blessing to get to train, to seek the inspiration of
the spirit in applying president's counsel to our zone.

As we invite everyone we can to experience the blessings of baptism,
we show the Lord He can trust us. So He puts more prepared people in
our path, ie: DANIEL.

We met Daniel on the street, the first thing he says to us "Are you
mormons? I'm actually really interested in your religion." He studied
in Maine, had a mormon roommate, went to church and met missionaries
in america. Asked us all about baptism, what he should wear to church,

"So Daniel, what makes you so interested in this religion?" "Well, I'm
just tired of living like I have no purpose, I have hard things in my
life, and I feel like mormon has the answers. I think I can find
people who can support me there."

WHAT? I've never ever met someone that prepared on my entire mission.
Those stories just come from the ensign!

There are those people out there. We have to prove to the Lord that He
can trust us, and we'll find them!

my english is getting really bad. I was trying to ask president
christensen for permission to read "teaching no great call"
least he said yes

Change of Heart

January 12, 2015

Wow. it's been a crazy week.

We got a call friday morning from the ward, telling us that a Brother
Lee was getting baptized on saturday, so we needed to interview him
saturday morning before the service. WHOA. Brother Lee is the husband
of a sister in our ward, and has been an investigator on and off for
about 10 years. As of last week he had NO intention of getting
baptized. But the ward and his family is really pressuring him to get
baptized so he can baptize his son who just turned 8.

Needless to say, we were super worried. "what if he's just doing it
because of the pressure? what if he doesn't pass the interview? he
still needs to be taught lessons 4 and 5? ahhhhhh?!?!" "This will
either be the biggest miracle of the century, or the biggest offense
against the ward, in history."

The bishopric asked that instead of the missionaries regularly
teaching him, that Elder South and I teach him the last lesson. So we
met saturday morning, taught the 4 and 5th lesson, he was interviewed
by another missionary right after, and he was baptized a few hours
later. Brother Lee was confirmed sunday, got the priesthood and will
baptize his son next week.

wow. As Elder South and I sat down to teach him, it was apparent he
was ready. Despite our concerns, the spirit filled the room and we
could feel this man's change of heart. He'd been doing a lot of
praying and reading this week with his family. And though he doesn't
have a perfect knowledge, he has the desire. He wants a happier
family, he wants to be a better person, and most importantly, he wants
to follow Jesus Christ. That's what it's about.

When he went into the water, the spirit was soooo strong. And his
daughter just started jumping up and down and cheering. so cute.
That's the happy family that the gospel brings.

It's been a crazy week. Elder South and I are going and seeing
miracles. Pounding the streets and confounding.

love you all!

"But I have no money to give you?"

January 5,  2015

In the middle of a prayer with a 90yr old grandpa, he stops me "I'm
really grateful that you're praying for me and all, but like....I've
got no money to give you for it." HAHAHA. We all stifled laughter as I
hurried and finished.

Just another day in the best place on earth! It's been a week of so
many miracles.

We partied hard for new years, stayed up til 10:30, then prayed and
went to bed. Fun huh? But in english class, we taught all about new
years traditions. One grandpa brought up the midnight kiss thing. "So
I can..(reaches and grabs the younger lady next to him) kiss ANYONE?"
She wasn't impressed. We wanted to bring a treat too, so we taught
about the hot chocolate tradition. (We drink hot chocolate around new
years...right?) They lovedddd drinking the authentic american cocoa
that an elder's mom sent.

Met a guy on the street, in his super expensive car. Turns out he's
pretty famous. "There is no one who doesn't know me! You're foreigners
so it's okay not to know, but every korean knows me!" He's the pro
soccer director for korea. Famous, but not thatttt famous. Ilsan does
have lots of famous people though. They were shooting a TV show on the
street the other day, we were at a cafe with a famous comedian at the
next table, and there's always lots of limos.

Greatest miracle of the week? Sister Oh. We teach her husband, who's
less active and now mentally handicapped. She doesn't like us, but
after lots of service, finally sat down to listen one time. We taught
about the Book of Mormon and bore lots of testimony. Turns out she's
super interested. She read some of the Book of Mormon and showed up at
church. Our awesome relief society sisters did so good fellowshipping.
"see you next week." "ok!"

The Lord leads us to find people in strange ways. But He's preparing
soooo many to hear and accept His gospel. We can't judge who's ready.
We have to just try our best and reach out to everyone.

Love you all!
